İslamabad Büyükelçiliği 16.09.2014

The Turkish Embassy in Islamabad organized a farewell ceremony for the students who were awarded scholarships to study in Turkey, under the Turkiye Scholarships programme, for 2014 – 2015 academic year.

Families of scholarship recipients and also Pakistani graduates of Turkish universities attended the event which was aimed at providing basic orientation and exchange of experience for new scholarship holders and their families. Speaking on the occasion, Turkish Ambassador Babur Girgin told the families that as the people of Turkey and Pakistan were brothers and sisters, the families should rest assured that the scholarship holders would be welcomed as Turkey’s own children.

This year, a total of 82,000 students applied to Turkey Scholarships from 176 countries and approximately 4.000 of them were awarded with Turkey Scholarships to study in Turkey's high-quality universities. The scholarships involve 105 universities in 55 cities in Turkey. 100 of these graduate and undergraduate students are Pakistani.

Under the programme, a one-year Turkish language course is provided to all students before the beginning of their studies in their respective departments. The scholarship also covers a monthly stipend, accommodation, health insurance, university fee and return air ticket to and from Pakistan.

Students will arrive in Turkey by 23 September and begin their studies.
