Ambassador Sadık Babur Girgin Takes Office , 12.11.2013
Turkey’s new ambassador to Pakistan Sadik Babur Girgin presented his credentials to President Mamnoon Hussain on 8 October.
Paying respect to the Quaid-i Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Ambassador Girgin first visited the Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi and laid a wreath to the Mausoleum. Signing the visitor’s book, the Ambassador reminded Turkish people’s respect and love for the legendary leader of brotherly Pakistan and stated that his vision and achievements were inspiring.
Within the framework of his visit to Karachi, the Ambassador met Chief Minister of Sindh Mr. Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad, President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abdullah Zaki and Vice Chairman of FPCCI Abdul Khaliq Khan. Turkish Consul General in Karachi Mr. Murat M. Onart accompanied Ambassador Girgin during his visit.
Trade relations between the two countries were taken up, with a special focus on the Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) which is still under negotiation.
Ambassador Girgin called upon boosting the trade potential between Pakistan and Turkey, while the Pakistani authorities invited Turkish companies to invest in Sindh region.
