Turkish Airlines Launches A New Route To Lahore , 02.12.2013
Turkey’s national air carrier Turkish Airlines (THY) made its first flight to Pakistan’s second largest city, Lahore.
For the first landing at the Allama Iqbal International Airport at 4.30 am local time, Turkish and Pakistani authorities were present, including Turkish ambassador H.E. Sadık Babur Girgin, Turkish Airlines General Manager in Pakistan Alp Yavuzeser, Provincial Minister for Education and Tourism Rana Mahsood Ahmed Khan and Chairman of the Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmed Hassan.
Lahore Police Band also took its place to greet the first landing.
The delegation warmly received 125 passengers and gave them flower bouquets. Pakistan’s ambassador to Turkey H.E. Shaukat Haroon was among the passengers.
The authorities cut the cake for celebration and participants enjoyed Turkish food.
Being the third flight point in Pakistan after Islamabad and Karachi, Lahore becomes 241st destination in Turkish Airlines flight network.
Istanbul-Lahore flights will take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while Lahore-Istanbul flights will be held on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
